FIN HUMANITARIAN AND PHILANTHROPIC ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION AND AWARD RECEPTION 2020

This online roundtable discussion is supported by the World Philanthropy Network and will feature a keynote address by former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo.
The event objectives include to chart a way of action so that we can help the country create awareness for regular donations and not wait for disaster before getting donations; provide a pedestal for the world’s greatest minds to speak of their expertise and discuss their findings within the humanitarian sector; fundamentally help the nation reform the humanitarian aid industry to react more effectively to today’s many crisis; and promote the efficiency and effectiveness of charities for the benefits of the Nigerian public.
A cynosure of all events for 2020 coming at a time the world is going through a pandemic that has upended the wellbeing of vast majority of people globally, it promises to be a quintessential one indeed with the array of guests lined up.
The event also features the conferment of the FIN Award of Excellence on HE Badria Al Mulla, Chairperson of International Emirates Business Group (IeBG) .The FIN Award honours her exemplary contributions towards global growth in economic and unique leadership qualities and nurturing the global economy to grow.

CHIEF OLUSEGUN MATTHEW OKIKIOLA AREMU OBASANJO
Chief Olusegun Matthew Okikiola Aremu Obasanjo, GCFR, is a Nigerian military and political leader who served as military head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as President of Nigeria from 1999 to 2007.
Ideologically a Nigerian nationalist, he was a member of the People’s Democratic Party
Obasanjo has been described as one of the great figures of the second generation of post-colonial African leaders. He received praise both for overseeing Nigeria’s transition to representative democracy in the 1970s and for his Pan-African efforts to encourage cooperation across the continent. Critics accused him of corruption and of overseeing human rights abuses, as well as focusing on his avoidance of constitutional norms and their perception that he became too interested in power during his presidency

MRS OLAYINKA FAYOMI (CHAIRMAN FIN)
Olayinka is an investment consultant and chairman of Foreign Investment Network (FIN), a UK publishing and consulting firm that produces FIN Magazine which is published in English, Chinese and French. As a lead at FIN, Olayinka organizes investment and business events globally, promoting inward investment to Africa.
She holds an MBA and a BSc [Hons] in economics and she is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Economists. Her work with youth and women has been recognized through awards from the Financial Standard Newspaper and GC4W for ‘Most Dynamic Nigerian Female in Diaspora’ and ‘Global Women Champion for Leadership in Business and Entrepreneurship in America’ respectively among others.

CAPTAIN DR IDAHOSA WELLS OKUNBO (Chairman/CEO Ocean Marine Solutions Ltd)
He is Nigerian business magnate, philanthropist and investor. Idahosa Wells Okunbo began his career as a professional commercial pilot. “Captain Hosa” then entered the oil and gas sector, where his company Hoslyn Ventures Limited provided procurement services. He diversified into maritime security services, operating under the name of Ocean Marine Security Limited (OMSL). Okunbo has made continued contributions to charitable causes. He sponsored and produced the film “Black November,” for which the U.S. Congress honored him with the Africa Titans Award for strides on behalf of Africa in the international arena

He is the President, Custom Solutions Media and also the President/Publisher Forbes Afrique Media between 2012 and 2014
He was also Vice President Custom Solutions (Forbes Media LLC) between 2005 – 2007, Vice President, Group Publisher (Golf Digest Publication Conde) 2003-2005
He has fostered important international business relationships with CEOs and head of states that has proven invaluable in developing new business specifically the African business sector for Forbes Magazine.

Baroness Martha Osamor
Martha Osamor, Baroness Osamor is a British–Nigerian Labour Party politician, life peer, community activist and civil rights campaigner. She is the mother of Kate Osamor MP.
Osamor was nominated by some branches within the Vauxhall Constituency Labour Party in the selection for a candidate at the by-election in 1989, but was not shortlisted by the Labour Party National Executive Committee. Kate Hoey was selected as the eventual Labour candidate.
She was nominated for a life peerage by Jeremy Corbyn in May 2018 and on 26 November 2018 the Queen conferred upon her the title of Baroness Osamor, of Tottenham in the London Borough of Haringey and of Asaba in the Republic of Nigeria

MR. NICK Kochan (FIN Board Member)
Nick Kochan is an internationally respected author and investigative journalist. His books on corruption, white collar crime and British politics have won acclaim. Kochan wrote ‘The Washing Machine’ a ground-breaking investigation into money laundering that uncovered criminal and non-compliant behavior by the world’s largest banks. This won Kochan considerable international acclaim.
Nick Kochan was educated at Magdalen College School, Oxford and Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. He has an honours degree in Classics and English.
